CORROSION RESISTANCE
Consumer demand and competitive pressures for high
quality, longer lasting automobiles and light trucks
have resulted in a continuing demand for corrosive resistant
steels, particularly for critical exterior body panels
and fuel tanks. MSC offers Electrogalvanizing (EG) Technology
along with Coil-Coating in a single pass. This offers
the most cost efficient economics.
MSC has the plating capability to run Pure Zinc or
Zinc-Nickel on one-side, two-sides, or a differential
plating weight. Zinc, in the presence of a corrosive
environment, will sacrifice itself in order to protect
the steel substrate. Zinc-Nickel plating provides five
times the corrosion protection than conventional zinc
plating. EG plated surfaces are not only uniform but
easily formable, flexible, weldable, and paintable.
MSCıs capability ranges from 10-90 g/m2 for Zinc and
10-40 g/m2 for Zinc-Nickel.
MSC also offers organically coated Zinc or Zinc-Nickel
products where chemical resistance along with corrosion
resistance is necessary such as automotive fuel tanks.
The coating is a combination of a chrome seal, metallic
filled, epoxy paint and a soap based dry film lubricant
that aids in stamping.
Additional Products include:
Conventional Zinc Phosphates with Chrome and Non-chrome
based sealers.
Dried-in-place phosphates.
Acrylic based dry film lubricants.
PRE-PAINTED METALS
MSC pre-paints metal for a wide variety of underbody,
under-hood, and exterior applications for use in automotive,
light truck, heavy truck and industrial vehicles. MSC's
diverse capabilities in steel and aluminum, heavy and
light gauge, wide width and large coils make nearly
any coated metal application possible in pre-paint.
Virtually any type of coating can be applied in pre-paint
format including B-stage adhesives and friction products,
which allow for final cure during our customers' process
if needed.
BRUSH BRITE
Brush Brite is an MSC proprietary product that looks
and feels like Stainless Steel without the Stainless
Steel price tag. Brush Brite uses a Zinc-Nickel substrate
which is capable of withstanding harsh automotive environments.
Brush Brite can be used in numerous automotive applications
where styling and performance are important; examples
include automotive trim, roof racks, running boards,
and other vehicle accessories.
