MSC is pleased to announce the recent addition
of Mr. Alan Duncan to the technical team in MSC's
automotive division in Farmington Hills, MI. Mr.
Duncan brings over 29 years experience in improving
automotive noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH)
performance. Mr. Duncan's skills have been applied
to serveral car and truck vehicle programs for
multiple automotive OEMs. His NVH knowledge and
Virtual Product Development process experience
has and will continue to provide a foundation
for accurate and practical results.
Mr. Duncan will join MSC's team of NVH Technical
Specialists who strive to provide the highest
level of structural-acoustic analysis and testing
capability. The NVH team's primary goal is to
use the most advanced technical tools available
to reduce interior noise levels in automobiles
via the continuous development of MSC's Quiet
Steel® materials and other automotive NVH
solutions.
Developed by MSC, Quiet Steel® consists of
an engineered viscoelastic layer sandwiched between
two cold-rolled layers of steel. The viscoelastic
layer is a "tunable" formulation, allowing
vehicle designers to attenuate specific frequencies
depending on where in the vehicle they use Quiet
Steel®. The laminate may be further engineered
with corrosion resistance or other value-added
processing. OEMs may form, stamp, and weld Quiet
Steel® as they would standard steel. Unlike
steel treated with other damping materials, Quiet
Steel® can be 100% recycled.
