The dramatic reductions in noise and vibration in sheet
metal panels made from Quiet Steel® are due to the
very high levels of damping
inherent in the material. The effect of damping
is to reduce the vibration amplitude of a system which
is being excited at, or near its resonant frequency.
Since it is the vibration of a panel that generates
radiated noise, the reduction in vibration amplitude
due to damping directly leads to reduced noise radiated
from the panel. But hearing is believing. Click the

A typical sheet metal panel has many resonances and
the resulting vibration response has many “peaks”
